Daytona 126503 specifications
Case size, movement and water resistance match the steel model exactly. However, the metal mix differs. In short, you get solid yellow gold where your eye and your cuff meet the watch, steel where they do not.

History and reference evolution
Rolex has offered a steel-and-gold Cosmograph for decades, but the modern line starts with the 116503, which shared the 4130 calibre with the steel 116500LN. In 2023, the two-tone 126503 replaced it as part of the Daytona's 60th-anniversary update. The case, dial and movement all moved on; however, the gold bezel stayed.
From 4130 to 4131
Like every 2023 Daytona, the 126503 runs calibre 4131. It adds the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers and Côtes de Genève finishing to the column-wheel chronograph. Meanwhile, reserve stays at 72 hours. For owners, the practical gain is a movement on Rolex's current parts list, which keeps service costs predictable for years.
The bezel that did not go ceramic
The steel and full-gold Oysterflex Daytonas use Cerachrom. By contrast, the two-tone 126503 keeps a solid 18 kt yellow-gold bezel with an engraved tachymetric scale, so it gets no thin metal edge either. That choice matters for value. Because gold is soft, the bezel shows wear quickly, and the engraved numerals are what a heavy polish destroys first. Condition of the bezel is therefore the main grading point on this reference.
Thinner counter rings
The 2023 dials have slimmer counter rings than the 116503's. On the white and black dials the rings are gold, while the golden dial reverses this with black rings. It is a small change. Still, it helps separate a two-tone 126503 dial from an older 116503 part fitted to a newer case.
126503 pre-owned prices compared
Gem-set dials are separate products with their own pricing, so they are therefore excluded here. The bands below cover the white, black and golden dials.
| Condition | What it means | USD | MYR (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unworn, full set | Stickers or barely worn, box, card dated within ~2 years, all tags | US$29,000 – US$33,000 | RM118,000 – RM135,000 |
| Excellent, box & papers | Light wear, unpolished or lightly polished, warranty card present | US$26,000 – US$29,800 | RM106,000 – RM122,000 |
| Good, no papers | Normal wear, watch only or box only, service history helps | US$23,500 – US$26,000 | RM96,000 – RM106,000 |
| Polished or aftermarket parts | Soft case edges, replaced dial/bezel/bracelet, or non-Rolex parts | US$20,500 – US$23,500 | RM84,000 – RM96,000 |
Bands reflect asking and achieved prices from 3 public market sources in October 2026, rounded. Retail for comparison: US$24,550. Prices move; use them as a sense-check, not a quote.
Wristcheck put the two-tone 126503 at about US$29,200 to US$29,800 in July 2026. In October 2026, dealer asks ranged from about US$25,700 to US$32,800. With a US list of US$24,550, that is a premium of roughly 10 to 20%, compared with nearly 100% on the steel model. In other words, this is the Daytona where retail and market sit closest together.
What moves the price of this reference
- Dial. The golden -0004 and the black -0003 ask more than the white -0001.
- Gold wear. Scratches on the bezel and centre links are normal; however, a softened tachymeter is not. An over-polished bezel can drop a watch a full band.
- Card date and completeness. A recent card and full box set matter, because buyers at this price often compare against buying new.
- Narrower demand. Fewer buyers want two-tone than steel, so a two-tone 126503 can take longer to sell. That gives patient buyers more room to negotiate.
Where to check prices
Begin with official retail. In Malaysia the two-tone 126503 lists at RM106,300, and a good grey deal is not far above that figure once converted. So the first question is whether a boutique will sell you one. After that, check dealer asks in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and then wider marketplaces. Because the premium is thin, the 2026 retail increase matters: a 2023-card watch may now be priced against the new list, even though the market has not followed fully. Our retail vs market price guide explains this lag.
When a price is too good to be true
The bottom of our range, for polished or part-replaced watches, starts at US$20,500 – US$23,500. A complete two-tone 126503 set offered below about US$23,000 (around RM94,000) deserves suspicion. Also, gold-plated fakes are common at the low end, so be wary of any watch that seems heavy on shine and light in the hand.
Genuine vs replica: how to check a 126503
Two-tone fakes have one weakness that steel fakes do not: plating. Cheap replicas use a thin gold layer over steel, which wears through on edges. Better ones, however, use thicker plating or gold-filled parts. Either way, the checks below help, and our real vs fake Rolex guide covers the rest.
Gold parts and the engraved bezel
- Engraved tachymeter. On a genuine two-tone 126503, the scale is cut deep and crisp into solid gold. Shallow, blurred or printed-looking numerals are a warning.
- Plating wear. Check the crown, pushers, bezel edge and centre links for grey steel showing through. Solid gold never reveals another metal.
- Weight. Solid gold is heavier than steel. A two-tone watch that feels as light as a steel Daytona is suspect.
- Engravings and serial. Reference 126503 between the lugs at 12, serial at 6 and on the rehaut, matching the warranty card.
- Triplock crown and screw-down pushers. Three marks beneath the coronet; pushers screw down firmly and evenly.
Genuine: clasp and bracelet machining
- Crisp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces
- Clasp blade and logo cleanly milled, not stamped-looking
- Bracelet links tight, quiet, no rattle; screws not pins on modern pieces
Warning signs
- Polishing bleeds over brushed edges
- Fuzzy logo, uneven font, or stamped-in look
- Loose links, sharp burrs inside the clasp, cheap spring-loaded feel
Genuine: rehaut engraving alignment
- Each engraved crown and letter lines up with its minute marker
- Engraving is crisp, even in depth, and readable at 12 o'clock
- Serial number engraved on the rehaut at 6 on modern pieces
Warning signs
- Letters drift between markers as they go around the ring
- Shallow, sandy-looking or uneven engraving
- Serial at 6 printed rather than engraved, or wrong format
What only a watchmaker can confirm
The decisive check happens with the back off. A genuine calibre 4131 shows Côtes de Genève striping, ‘ROLEX’ markings, a blue Parachrom hairspring and the Chronergy escapement. A watchmaker can also test gold content on the bezel and links without damage, using an XRF reader or careful acid testing on a hidden surface. Also, hallmarks on the case and clasp should be present and sharp. In Kuala Lumpur, a reputable independent or the Rolex service centre can do this before purchase. Afterwards, verify the serial with our serial number guide.
Who the two-tone 126503 suits, and the alternatives
The two-tone 126503 suits someone who likes gold on the wrist but not the cost of a full-gold Daytona. Because it looks dressier than steel, it pairs well with tailoring as well as a polo shirt. It also suits buyers who dislike paying a large premium, because its market price sits close to list.
If you would rather have steel and accept the premium, look at the 126500LN Panda or the older 116500LN. If you want more gold, the yellow-gold Oysterflex 126518LN is the next step up. Our Daytona steel vs gold comparison weighs all three routes, and the Daytona collection page lists every reference.
Living with gold and steel
Day to day, the two-tone 126503 asks for a little more care than steel. The polished gold centre links collect fine scratches within weeks, and the gold bezel picks up marks from desk edges. That is normal, and most collectors prefer honest wear to a soft, over-polished watch. So, when you send it for service, ask in writing for no polishing, or for a light refinish of the steel only. The solid links and Oysterlock clasp are robust, and Easylink adds 5 mm when the weather is hot, which helps in Malaysian humidity. Finally, keep the box, card and tags together. On a reference that trades this close to list, a complete set is often what separates a quick sale from a long wait.

126503 FAQ
How much is the two-tone Daytona 126503?
The US list price is US$24,550 and Malaysian retail is RM106,300 as of October 2026. On the pre-owned market, excellent examples with box and papers ask roughly US$26,000 to US$29,800. That is a premium of about 10 to 20% over list, far smaller than the steel Daytona's.
What does Rolesor mean?
Rolesor is Rolex's name for combining Oystersteel with gold in one watch. On the 126503, the bezel, crown, pushers and centre bracelet links are 18 kt yellow gold, while the case middle and outer links are steel. The final digit 3 in the reference is Rolex's code for Yellow Rolesor. Our materials guide explains the alloys.
Which 126503 dial holds value best?
In October 2026 the golden dial and the black dial ask more than the white. The golden dial with black counters is the most distinctive of the three, while the black dial looks the most sporting. White is the easiest to find and negotiate on.
Is the 126503 easier to buy than the steel Daytona?
Usually, yes. Two-tone demand is narrower than steel demand, so authorised dealers are more willing to offer one to a new client. It is still a Daytona, though, so do not expect walk-in stock. A purchase history at the boutique helps.
Is a gold-and-steel Daytona a good investment?
It is not built to be one. The two-tone 126503 trades only a little above list, and the January 2026 price rise lifted retail faster than the used market. Buy it because you want to wear it. Our steel vs gold comparison covers how each metal has held value.
Does polishing hurt a 126503?
More than on most watches. The tachymeter scale is engraved into a solid yellow-gold bezel, and polishing softens those numerals and the bezel's sharp edges. Yellow gold also scratches easily, so expect marks. If you buy one, accept some hairlines rather than having it polished at every service.
