What defines the Sky-Dweller
The Sky-Dweller is Rolex's travel calendar. It launched in 2012 in solid gold, and in 2017 Rolex added Rolesor versions at a far lower price. Every model is 42 mm, water-resistant to 100 m and powered by calibre 9002, which replaced the 9001 in 2023. Power reserve is about 72 hours.
Typically, buyers are frequent flyers, business travellers and owners of a Datejust or GMT-Master II who want something more involved. Two mechanisms make the watch what it is, so they are worth understanding before you look at any Rolex Sky-Dweller price.
The Saros annual calendar, explained
Rolex named the calendar after the Saros, an ancient astronomical cycle used to predict eclipses (background on Wikipedia). In practice, it works like this. The movement knows which months have 30 days and which have 31. So at the end of April it jumps from the 30th to the 1st without help.
The month itself appears in twelve small apertures, one beside each hour marker. One o'clock stands for January, two for February, and so on to twelve for December. The current month's aperture shows red. The only correction you ever need is on 1 March, because February has 28 or 29 days. That is why Rolex calls it an annual calendar rather than a perpetual one.
The Ring Command bezel, explained
The second idea is the fluted bezel, which is not decoration. First, unscrew the crown and pull it out to its single setting position. Then turn the bezel to one of three notches. In the first notch, the crown sets the date, and the month follows. In the second, it moves the local hour hand in one-hour jumps while the watch keeps running. In the third, it sets the reference time shown on the off-centre 24-hour disc. Rolex first used the system on the Yacht-Master II in 2007.
The result is simple to live with. When you land in a new time zone, you change one hand, and your home time stays on the disc.
Every Sky-Dweller reference compared
The current line has five base references. Two are Rolesor, steel with a gold bezel, and three are solid 18k gold. Oysterflex twins of the Everose and yellow gold models, the 336235 and 336238, are covered on their bracelet siblings' pages.

Sky-Dweller retail vs pre-owned price table
The table compares each Rolex Sky-Dweller price at US list with October 2026 pre-owned bands. One caution: the 336938's US list of US$60,100 could not be confirmed in US retailer listings, so treat it as indicative.

Retail is the current (or last) US list price. Pre-owned bands are rounded market ranges for October 2026; MYR ≈ USD × 4.08.
The spread is unusual. The cheapest watch at list, the 336934, trades above retail. Meanwhile, the white gold 336239 trades roughly 29% under list, the deepest discount in the range.
Rolex Sky-Dweller price: what to buy and where
Which reference holds value
For resale, metal and dial matter most. The White Rolesor 336934 is strongest, especially in mint green or blue. The yellow gold 336938 with its 2025 green dial also asks above list. The Everose 336935 sits a few per cent under retail. By contrast, the two-tone 336933 and the white gold 336239 lose the most. They are therefore the best buys used, but the weakest choices if you plan to sell soon.
Which is easiest to get at retail
Two-tone and white gold models are usually available at boutiques with short waits. Standard-dial Everose and yellow gold are also obtainable for established clients. However, the mint green 336934 and the green 336938 carry real waitlists, and that pressure lifts their Sky-Dweller price on the grey market. The retail vs market price guide covers how waitlists shape these gaps.
Buying a Sky-Dweller in Malaysia
Malaysian boutiques publish Sky-Dweller prices in ringgit, and they sit roughly 6% higher than the US list once you convert at 4.08. Most of that gap is the sales tax built into Malaysian prices. So for the two-tone and white gold models, a clean used watch from a reputable dealer in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore is often far cheaper than new. For the 336934, by contrast, the boutique is the cheaper route if you can secure one.
Authentication notes for the Sky-Dweller
The complication itself is the best first test. On a genuine watch, the bezel changes what the crown sets, the local hour hand jumps without stopping the seconds, and the red month marker moves at month end. Many replicas fake the bezel or print a static month display. Also check the Cyclops over the date, the serial on the rehaut at 6 o'clock, and the plain, solid caseback.
That said, the best clones now copy much of this. Therefore, have a watchmaker open the case to confirm calibre 9002. For the full set of checks, use our real vs fake Rolex guide. Then confirm the paperwork against our box and papers guide. Rolex's own specifications are on the official Sky-Dweller page.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Sky-Dweller annual calendar work?
The Saros mechanism knows which months have 30 days and which have 31, and it moves the date and the red month marker on by itself. The only month it cannot handle is February. So once a year, on 1 March, you advance the date by one or two days using the Ring Command bezel. Everything else runs automatically while the watch is wound.
What is the cheapest Rolex Sky-Dweller?
How much is a Rolex Sky-Dweller in Malaysia?
As of October 2026, Malaysian list prices for the Rolesor models are RM76,800 for the 336934 and RM104,100 for the two-tone 336933. Solid gold starts at RM231,200 for the white gold Oysterflex 336239 and reaches RM281,100 for the Everose 336935 on a Jubilee. Used prices vary widely by metal, as the table above shows.
Is the Sky-Dweller more complicated than the Day-Date?
Yes. The Day-Date shows the day and date. The Sky-Dweller adds a second time zone, an annual calendar with month display and a bezel that selects which function the crown sets. Our Sky-Dweller vs Day-Date comparison covers what that means in daily wear and in price.
Which Sky-Dweller holds value best?
In October 2026, the 336934 with a mint green or blue dial and the yellow gold 336938 with the 2025 green dial traded above list. Everose sat close to list. By contrast, the two-tone 336933 and especially the white gold 336239 sold well below retail. Our used Rolex price guide explains the bands.
