Oyster Perpetual 34 124200 specifications
Two numbers set this watch apart from its larger siblings: the 34 mm case and the 55-hour reserve. Both come from the smaller calibre 2232, which Rolex designed for its compact cases. Rolex does not publish the thickness.

History and reference evolution
Rolex introduced the 124200 in 2020 as the replacement for the 114200. In size, it sits between the 31 mm and 36 mm Oyster Perpetuals, and Rolex presents it as unisex. Meanwhile, it gets less attention than the 36 or 41, which is partly why it remains easier to buy.
A different movement family
The 114200 used calibre 3130, the same engine as the 36 mm model of its day. By contrast, the Oyster Perpetual 34 124200 moved to calibre 2232. That is a smaller movement from the family Rolex uses in its ladies' sizes. It uses a silicon Syloxi hairspring rather than the blue Parachrom spring of calibre 3230. In addition, silicon resists magnetism and temperature changes well, and Rolex still certifies the watch as a Superlative Chronometer at -2/+2 seconds a day.
The trade-off is the reserve. At about 55 hours, it is shorter than the 70 hours of the 36 mm and 41 mm models. Still, 55 hours is more than the old 3130 offered, so the 124200 is a clear step up on its predecessor.
Dials through the years
At launch, the 2020 line-up was restrained: silver, bright blue, bright black and pink. The OP 34 never received the full coral, turquoise and yellow palette that drove queues for the 36 and 41. Then, in 2025, it became one of the first Rolex models with matte lacquer dials, in beige, lavender and pistachio. The hour markers are 18k white gold, or yellow gold on certain dials, filled with Chromalight.
The 2026 gold versions are separate
In 2026 Rolex added solid-gold Oyster Perpetual 34 models: the 124205 in Everose and the 124208 in yellow gold, with natural-stone markers. They are separate references at much higher prices. So if you see a gold OP 34, do not compare its price with this steel model.
What the history means for value
Because the 124200 missed the 2020 colour wave, it never built the same collector premium. As a result, prices have stayed close to retail and fairly stable. For a buyer, that is good news: there is less hype to overpay for, and less to lose if the market cools.

|---|---|---|---|
| Unworn, full set | Stickers or barely worn, box, card dated within ~2 years, all tags | US$7,800 – US$9,500 | RM32,000 – RM39,000 |
| Excellent, box & papers | Light wear, unpolished or lightly polished, warranty card present | US$6,800 – US$8,200 | RM28,000 – RM33,000 |
| Good, no papers | Normal wear, watch only or box only, service history helps | US$5,800 – US$7,500 | RM24,000 – RM31,000 |
| Polished or aftermarket parts | Soft case edges, replaced dial/bezel/bracelet, or non-Rolex parts | US$4,900 – US$7,000 | RM20,000 – RM29,000 |
Bands reflect asking and achieved prices from 2 public market sources in October 2026, rounded. Retail for comparison: US$6,400. Prices move; use them as a sense-check, not a quote.
The US list price is US$6,400; in Malaysia it is RM27,650. An excellent example with papers trades around US$6,800 – US$8,200, or roughly RM28,000 to RM33,000. WatchCharts put the market near US$7,500 in September 2026. In short, the premium over retail is small and steady.
What moves the price of this reference
The matte pastel dials from 2025 and the pink dial ask more than silver or black. However, the gap is narrower than on the 36 mm size, because demand for 34 mm is simply smaller. After the dial, the condition of the smooth bezel matters. Polishing rounds its profile, and the polished edges of the bracelet show wear quickly. A full set with an unsized bracelet adds the usual few hundred dollars.
Where to check prices
For a current, available reference like the Oyster Perpetual 34, the official retail price is the real anchor. Ask a Kuala Lumpur boutique for the current list and an estimated wait. Then compare dealer asks and marketplace listings by dial. By contrast, auction results add little for this model. Our used Rolex price guide shows where this reference sits against the rest of the catalogue.
When a price is too good to be true
A complete Oyster Perpetual 34 124200 set below about US$5,800 (around RM24,000) is under the bottom of our no-papers band. At that level, assume a problem until proven otherwise. Likewise, a "new" pastel dial priced well under list should make you ask why the seller is not selling it for more.
Genuine vs replica: how to check a 124200
Generally, fakes of the 34 mm size are less common than fakes of the 36 and 41, but they exist. Some are simply scaled-down copies of the larger cases. So the first check is size: measure the case at 34 mm across, excluding the crown. Then work through the details below and the wider method in our real vs fake Rolex guide.
Markers, hands and lume
First, the applied hour markers are 18k gold with Chromalight inserts. Under a loupe their edges should be sharp and their polish even. In the dark, the lume should glow blue on every marker and on both hands. A green glow suggests a replacement part or a fake.
Genuine: lume colour and application
- Modern pieces glow blue (Chromalight) and stay bright for hours
- Every marker and hand glows at the same intensity
- Lume plots filled neatly to the edge of the surround
Warning signs
- Green or mixed-colour glow on a modern reference
- Hands and markers fade at different rates
- Overfilled or thin, lumpy plots under a loupe
Crystal, rehaut and crown
The rehaut carries ROLEX ROLEX engraving and the case serial at 6 o'clock, matching the warranty card. Look for the faint etched coronet in the crystal at 6 o'clock, too. On a small dial, fakers often make it too large. Next, unscrew the Twinlock crown. It should turn smoothly on crisp threads and carry a clean engraved coronet.
Genuine: laser-etched crown at 6 o'clock
- Made of tiny dots, hard to find without a loupe
- Sits in the crystal just above the 6 o'clock marker
- Present on most Rolex crystals from the early 2000s onward
Warning signs
- Bold and frosted, easy to spot head-on
- Solid lines instead of a dot matrix
- Off-centre, or placed on a reference/era that would not have it
Caseback and clasp
Also, the caseback is plain, screw-down Oystersteel with no window and no engraving from the factory. The folding Oysterclasp should carry an engraved coronet and an Easylink extension that slides out smoothly. Finally, check that the solid end links sit flush against the case.
Genuine: clasp and bracelet machining
- Crisp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces
- Clasp blade and logo cleanly milled, not stamped-looking
- Bracelet links tight, quiet, no rattle; screws not pins on modern pieces
Warning signs
- Polishing bleeds over brushed edges
- Fuzzy logo, uneven font, or stamped-in look
- Loose links, sharp burrs inside the clasp, cheap spring-loaded feel
What only a watchmaker can confirm
Calibre 2232 has a silicon Syloxi hairspring, unlike the Parachrom spring in calibre 3230. Only a watchmaker with the caseback off can confirm that, along with the calibre markings and rotor finishing. A timing test will also show whether the rate fits Rolex's -2/+2 seconds a day. In Malaysia, arrange that check before you pay.
Who the 124200 suits, and the alternatives
The Oyster Perpetual 34 suits wrists from about 14 cm to 17 cm (5.5 to 6.7 in). It also suits anyone who likes a vintage-sized watch, since 34 mm was a common men's size decades ago. It is a sensible buy for someone who values easy availability and a low premium over the latest dial.
If you are torn between sizes, the Oyster Perpetual 36 126000 adds 70 hours of reserve and a wider colour range. Smaller wrists may prefer the Oyster Perpetual 31 277200. If you want a date and some gold, the Lady-Datejust 279174 is a natural alternative. For a full comparison of the range, start at our Oyster Perpetual collection page, and read the first Rolex buying guide if this is your first purchase.
Living with a 55-hour reserve
In daily use, the shorter reserve rarely matters. Worn every day, the rotor keeps the mainspring topped up. However, if you rotate several watches, the 124200 will usually stop after two full days off the wrist. Setting it is quick, because there is no date to correct; you simply unscrew the crown, wind a few turns and set the hands. That simplicity is a real advantage over a Datejust for an occasional wearer. Also, a smaller case means less weight, so the 34 mm stays comfortable in Malaysian heat when a larger steel watch can feel heavy.

Oyster Perpetual 36 126000
The unisex 36 mm OP with calibre 3230. Turquoise and Celebration dials lead resale.

Oyster Perpetual 31 277200
31 mm, calibre 2232, lacquer colour dials. Turquoise and Celebration trade far above list.

Lady-Datejust 279174
28 mm Lady-Datejust in steel with a white gold fluted bezel. Prices, history and fake checks.
124200 FAQ
Is the Oyster Perpetual 34 a men's or women's watch?
Rolex sells it as unisex. It suits wrists from about 14 to 17 cm, which covers many women and men with slimmer wrists. Men who like vintage proportions often find 34 mm more comfortable than they expect.
What is the difference between the OP 34 and OP 36?
Besides 2 mm of diameter, the movement differs. The 124200 uses calibre 2232 with about 55 hours of reserve and a Syloxi spring. The 36 mm 126000 uses calibre 3230 with about 70 hours. The 36 also offers more dial colours.
How much is the Oyster Perpetual 34 124200 in Malaysia?
The official Malaysian list price is RM27,650, against US$6,400 in the US. Pre-owned examples with papers trade at roughly RM28,000 to RM33,000, so the second-hand premium is small.
Does the 124200 hold its value?
Reasonably well. It trades a little above retail, and prices have been stable. However, demand for 34 mm is narrower than for 36 mm, so do not expect the premiums seen on turquoise or Celebration OPs.
Is there a gold Oyster Perpetual 34?
Yes, since 2026: the 124205 in Everose and the 124208 in yellow gold. They are separate references with natural-stone markers and much higher prices. The steel 124200 continues alongside them.
