Rolex Yacht-Master 42 Titanium 226627 specifications
The spec sheet looks almost identical to the white gold 226659: same 42 mm, same calibre 3235, same bezel layout. The real difference is the metal, and it changes the weight, the colour and the price by a wide margin.

History and reference evolution
The titanium Yacht-Master first appeared as a prototype on the wrist of Sir Ben Ainslie, the British sailor, during his SailGP campaign. Collectors spotted it in photos well before Rolex said anything. Then, at Watches & Wonders 2023, Rolex released the production Yacht-Master 42 titanium 226627.
RLX titanium enters the regular catalogue
Rolex had already used RLX titanium in 2022 for the Deepsea Challenge 126067, a 50 mm tool watch rated to 11,000 metres. The titanium Yacht-Master 226627 brought the same alloy into a normal-sized sports watch. In other words, it was the first time most buyers could wear Rolex titanium every day.
RLX titanium is a grade 5 alloy. It is light and resists corrosion well, which suits salt water. Also, Rolex finishes it almost entirely with a satin brush, so the case reads as a darker, flatter grey than steel. Our Rolex materials guide compares it with Oystersteel and gold.
What it shares with the gold 42
Under the dial, the titanium 226627 matches the white gold Yacht-Master 42. It uses calibre 3235 with 70 hours of reserve and a date. The bezel insert is matte black Cerachrom with raised, polished numerals. However, the dial is called "intense black", and the watch arrives on a titanium Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension.
For value, there are no generations to track yet. Every titanium Yacht-Master 42 so far has the same dial and bracelet. Therefore, condition and paperwork drive the price far more than production year.

| Condition | What it means | USD | MYR (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unworn, full set | Stickers or barely worn, box, card dated within ~2 years, all tags | US$26,500 – US$29,000 | RM108,000 – RM118,000 |
| Excellent, box & papers | Light wear, unpolished or lightly polished, warranty card present | US$23,000 – US$27,000 | RM94,000 – RM110,000 |
| Good, no papers | Normal wear, watch only or box only, service history helps | US$19,600 – US$24,800 | RM80,000 – RM101,000 |
| Polished or aftermarket parts | Soft case edges, replaced dial/bezel/bracelet, or non-Rolex parts | US$16,600 – US$23,000 | RM68,000 – RM94,000 |
Bands reflect asking and achieved prices from 2 public market sources in October 2026, rounded. Retail for comparison: US$16,050. Prices move; use them as a sense-check, not a quote.
This is the opposite of the white gold story. The US list price is US$16,050, yet excellent examples with papers trade around US$23,000 – US$27,000. In ringgit terms, that is roughly RM94,000 to RM110,000 against a boutique price of RM69,700. So the titanium model sells for close to what a pre-owned white gold 42 fetches, despite costing less than half as much new.
What moves the price of this reference
Scarcity at authorised dealers is the main driver. Allocation is limited, so many buyers turn to the grey market. As a result, the premium has held, although it is easing slowly.
The brushed finish matters next. Titanium cannot be polished back to factory condition by a casual jeweller. A case that has been refinished shows uneven grain and softened edges, which pushes it into the lowest band.
The full set adds value, as it does on most modern Rolex. Finally, check whether the bracelet has been sized. An unsized bracelet with every link present is a small plus. Missing links, by contrast, are a real cost, because titanium links are not cheap to replace. See our box and papers guide for what a complete set includes.
Where to check prices
The authorised dealer price is useful here as a floor, not a ceiling. Grey dealers in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong set the real market. Chrono24-style marketplaces give the clearest spread; filter for "unworn" and "with papers" separately, because the gap between them is wide. Auction results remain sparse for a 2023 release. For the bigger picture on premiums, read Rolex retail vs market price and our used Rolex prices guide.
When a price is too good to be true
Even refinished or altered titanium examples start near US$16,600, barely above retail. Therefore, a "full set" titanium Yacht-Master offered under about US$20,000 (around RM81,600) needs careful checking. Treat any private listing below the boutique price of RM69,700 as a probable fake, a stolen watch or a deposit scam.
Genuine vs replica: how to check a 226627
Weight and surface
The first test is the hand. A genuine Yacht-Master 42 titanium 226627 feels strikingly light, because case and bracelet are both titanium. Many copies use steel coated to look grey. They feel dense, and the coating can wear through at the clasp edges.
Next, look at the colour and grain. RLX titanium is a darker grey than steel. The satin brushing runs in tight, even lines across case, bezel and links. On fakes, the brushing is often coarse or inconsistent between case and bracelet.
Bezel, date and crystal
The bezel turns both ways with firm clicks. The numerals on the black ceramic insert are raised and polished, so they catch light against the matte background. Then check the date. The Cyclops magnifies it about 2.5 times, and the date should snap over around midnight.
Genuine: cyclops magnification
- Date fills the lens edge to edge
- Numerals stay sharp right to the lens rim
- Lens sits centred over the date window
Warning signs
- Date looks small, with a visible margin
- Lens slightly off-centre or bubbled
- Strong blue anti-glare tint on top of the lens
The rehaut carries engraved coronets and the serial at 6. Also, the crystal has a tiny laser-etched coronet just above 6 o'clock, visible only with a loupe and angled light.
Genuine: laser-etched crown at 6 o'clock
- Made of tiny dots, hard to find without a loupe
- Sits in the crystal just above the 6 o'clock marker
- Present on most Rolex crystals from the early 2000s onward
Warning signs
- Bold and frosted, easy to spot head-on
- Solid lines instead of a dot matrix
- Off-centre, or placed on a reference/era that would not have it
Bracelet and clasp
The bracelet should match the case finish exactly. Its links are titanium, and the Oysterlock clasp includes the Easylink extension, which adds about 5 mm. On copies of the titanium 226627, the clasp is often steel, and it may feel heavier than the rest of the bracelet. Our bracelets and clasps guide explains how Easylink works.
Genuine: clasp and bracelet machining
- Crisp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces
- Clasp blade and logo cleanly milled, not stamped-looking
- Bracelet links tight, quiet, no rattle; screws not pins on modern pieces
Warning signs
- Polishing bleeds over brushed edges
- Fuzzy logo, uneven font, or stamped-in look
- Loose links, sharp burrs inside the clasp, cheap spring-loaded feel
What only a watchmaker can confirm
With the plain screw-down caseback removed, a watchmaker can and confirm calibre 3235, its blue Parachrom hairspring and correct markings. They can also check that the case and bracelet of a Yacht-Master 42 sold as titanium really are titanium. In Malaysia, the Rolex service centre in Kuala Lumpur can verify a watch, and some independent watchmakers offer inspections. Our real vs fake Rolex guide lists the full process.
Who the 226627 suits, and the alternatives
This is a watch for someone who wants to forget they are wearing a Rolex. The weight is low, and the grey brushed finish draws little attention. It suits active owners, sailors and anyone in Malaysia's heat who finds a steel bracelet heavy. On the wrist, it works well from about 16.5 to 20 cm, because the light head does not flop around on a smaller wrist.
Who should look elsewhere
If you dislike paying above list, this is the wrong reference to chase on the grey market. In that case, the white gold Yacht-Master 42 226659 trades below retail, though it is far heavier. For a smaller steel-and-platinum option on a bracelet, look at the Yacht-Master 40 126622. If you need real dive capability, compare it with the Submariner in our Yacht-Master vs Submariner guide. Every other current and past reference is listed on the Yacht-Master collection page.
Buying one in Malaysia
Expect a long wait at Kuala Lumpur boutiques unless you already buy there. Many local collectors therefore accept the grey premium, usually from dealers who source in Singapore or Hong Kong. That is fine, provided the paperwork is clear. Ask for the warranty card, check that the serial on the card matches the rehaut, and confirm whether the dealer adds a warranty of their own.
Also, think about how you will wear it. Titanium shrugs off sweat and salt, so the 226627 handles Malaysian humidity and a weekend at Port Dickson or Langkawi without fuss. However, keep the bracelet clean; grit in the links wears the brushed finish faster than on steel.

Yacht-Master 42 226659
White gold, 42 mm, Oysterflex: a heavy-metal sports Rolex that sells far under list on the secondary market.

Yacht-Master 40 126622
40 mm Oystersteel with a 950 platinum bezel, slate or blue dial, calibre 3235. Trades near list.
226627 FAQ
What is the Yacht-Master 42 made of?
It depends on the reference. The 226627 uses RLX titanium, Rolex's grade 5 titanium alloy, for the case, bezel and bracelet, with a black Cerachrom bezel insert. The other Yacht-Master 42, the 226659, is 18k white gold on an Oysterflex strap. Same diameter, very different weight and price.
Why is the titanium 226627 more expensive pre-owned than at retail?
Authorised dealers receive few of them, and many buyers want a light, brushed Rolex that does not look like gold. In October 2026 the US list is US$16,050, while excellent pre-owned pieces sit around US$23,000 to US$27,000. The premium has been easing slowly, but it has not closed.
Does RLX titanium scratch more easily than Oystersteel?
Titanium is lighter and harder-wearing than many people expect, but its brushed surface does show scuffs. The good news is that a brushed finish hides small marks better than polish. The bad news is that refinishing it badly is obvious, so an unpolished case earns a premium on resale.
Can I buy the 226627 at an authorised dealer in Malaysia?
It is listed at RM69,700 through Malaysian authorised dealers, but allocation is tight. Expect to wait, and expect the dealer to favour existing clients. Many local buyers end up paying a premium to a grey dealer instead, which is why checking the full set matters.
How heavy is the Rolex Yacht-Master 42 titanium 226627?
Rolex does not publish a weight for this reference, so be careful with figures quoted online. In the hand it feels markedly lighter than a steel 42 mm sports watch, because both case and bracelet are titanium. If a supposed 226627 feels as dense as steel, stop and investigate.
Is the 226627 a good alternative to a Submariner?
For daily wear on land, yes. It is lighter, it has a bidirectional bezel, and it is more discreet. However, it is rated to 100 metres rather than 300 metres, so it is not a dive watch. Our Yacht-Master vs Submariner comparison covers the trade-offs.
