History and reference evolution

Rolex introduced the Submariner 126610LN in September 2020. It replaced the 116610LN, which had run for a decade. The "LN" suffix stands for Lunette Noir, French for black bezel. Our reference number decoder explains the other codes.

From Maxi case to slimmer lugs

The 116610LN of 2010 was a solid, square-shouldered watch. Its broad lugs and thick crown guards gave it presence. However, many buyers felt it wore larger than 40 mm. For the 126610LN, Rolex took the diameter to 41 mm and trimmed the lugs. The result looks closer to the older 16610 from the side. Meanwhile, the bracelet grew to 21 mm to suit the new case.

Calibre 3135 to calibre 3235

The bigger change is inside. The 3135 had served since 1988, with 48 hours of reserve. The 3235 offers 70 hours. It also brings the Chronergy escapement and Paraflex shock absorbers. Rolex certifies the cased watch to −2/+2 seconds a day. The date still jumps instantly at midnight, and rapid setting is kept.

The coronet at 6 o'clock

One small dial change helps identification. A tiny coronet now sits between "SWISS" and "MADE". The 116610LN never had it. So a 116610LN dial in a 126610LN case is easy to spot.

What the changes mean for value

Today a good 126610LN asks about US$2,000 more than a good 116610LN. Buyers pay that for the longer reserve, newer warranty and better wrist fit. Conversely, the older model now looks like value. Our 116610LN page covers that side of the decision.

Bands reflect asking and achieved prices from 2 public market sources in October 2026, rounded. Retail for comparison: US$11,350. Prices move; use them as a sense-check, not a quote.

The US list is US$11,350 and the Malaysian list is RM49,100. Against those, the market premium has compressed since 2022. Even so, the Submariner 126610LN remains the most liquid reference in the line. A clean full set usually sells within days at a fair ask.

What moves the price of this reference

Papers come first. A box, booklet and dated warranty card can add US$1,000 or more over a watch-only example. Recent cards sell fastest, because the new owner inherits the remaining Rolex guarantee.

Next comes wear. Unworn, stickered pieces ask a few hundred to over a thousand dollars more than lightly worn ones. Polishing then cuts deeper. On this case, the lug tops and the clasp cover show it first. A dealer will price a soft-edged case into the lowest band.

Bracelet links also matter. Missing links reduce value, especially for larger wrists. Service history counts too, although most 126610LNs are still young. Finally, the market prices it against two siblings. The no-date 124060 sits about US$1,300 lower, and the green-bezel 126610LV sits slightly higher.

Box, papers and service

A complete 126610LN set includes the green box, outer carton, booklet, hang tags and the plastic warranty card. The card lists the serial, the full model number (126610LN-0001) and the sale date. Rolex's guarantee runs five years from that date. Because the reference only arrived in 2020, early watches are now leaving warranty, and a first service may come up in the next owner's hands. Our service and value guide covers what that costs.

Where to check prices

Use rolex.com for list prices in both currencies. Then look at grey dealers, who quote asking prices with margin and a dealer warranty. Chrono24 has hundreds of 126610LN listings. Because of that depth, its asking-price quartiles give a fair picture. Auction results are thinner for a current model, though they confirm the floor.

For Malaysian buyers, Singapore dealers are the main alternative to local sellers. Compare them at the day's rate, and factor in travel and any duty when you bring the watch home. Local marketplace listings vary widely. So ask for the card, serial photos and a recent receipt before any viewing.

When a price is too good to be true

The lowest band, for polished watches with replaced parts, starts around US$10,800. So a full set under about US$10,000 (roughly RM41,000) is a red flag. Common stories include "urgent sale" and "overseas seller, ship first". Walk away from both.

Genuine vs replica: how to check a 126610LN

As the most copied modern Rolex, the Submariner 126610LN attracts the best clones. So check the details that cost a factory money to get right.

Cyclops and date on a Submariner 126610LN

The Cyclops lens should magnify the date about 2.5 times. The numeral should fill the lens edge to edge. Weak magnification is still one of the commonest fake tells. Also check centring: the lens sits precisely over the window.

Genuine: cyclops magnification

2828approx. 2.5x
  • Date fills the lens edge to edge
  • Numerals stay sharp right to the lens rim
  • Lens sits centred over the date window

Warning signs

2828approx. 1.5x
  • Date looks small, with a visible margin
  • Lens slightly off-centre or bubbled
  • Strong blue anti-glare tint on top of the lens
On a genuine 126610LN the Cyclops enlarges the date about 2.5x, so the numeral fills the lens; a small date with visible margin is a warning sign.

Then test the date change. Set the time to about 11:55 pm and advance slowly. With a calibre 3235, the date should snap over at midnight. A date that creeps over an hour suggests a different movement.

Genuine: date change behaviour

22:0000:0002:00instant jump at midnight2827
  • Date snaps over within a minute or two of midnight
  • Hands set back past midnight do not drag the date backwards
  • Quick-set date clicks crisply in crown position 2

Warning signs

22:0000:0002:00slow creep over hours2827
  • Date starts moving around 22:00 and creeps until after midnight
  • Half-turned date visible in the window for hours
  • Quick-set feels gritty or needs several tries
The 3235 in the 126610LN changes the date instantly around midnight; a slow, creeping change points to a clone movement.

Rehaut, crown etch and engravings

The rehaut repeats "ROLEX", with the serial at 6 o'clock. The reference is engraved between the lugs at 12. Under a loupe, find the dotted coronet etched in the crystal above 6. Then confirm the printed coronet between SWISS and MADE.

Bezel and bracelet

The bezel gives 120 crisp clicks in one direction. Platinum-coated numerals look soft grey-white, not chalky. On the bracelet, the Glidelock extends in roughly 2 mm steps to about 20 mm. Every surface should change cleanly from brushed to polished.

Genuine: clasp and bracelet machining

sharp, even edges; deep, clean engraving
  • Crisp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces
  • Clasp blade and logo cleanly milled, not stamped-looking
  • Bracelet links tight, quiet, no rattle; screws not pins on modern pieces

Warning signs

soft edges, wavy or shallow engraving
  • Polishing bleeds over brushed edges
  • Fuzzy logo, uneven font, or stamped-in look
  • Loose links, sharp burrs inside the clasp, cheap spring-loaded feel
A genuine 126610LN Oysterlock clasp shows crisp brushed-to-polished transitions and a cleanly milled crown, with no burrs inside the blade.

What only a watchmaker can confirm

With the caseback off, a watchmaker should see a 3235 with its blue Parachrom hairspring. Bridge engraving, finishing and screw quality all matter. Many clones use a cloned movement with similar layout but rougher parts. A timing machine also helps. A healthy 3235 runs within a few seconds a day and holds strong amplitude. Who the 126610LN suits, and the alternatives

The Submariner 126610LN is the default choice for a buyer who wants one steel Rolex for everything. It works with a suit, survives a holiday in Langkawi and resells easily. In addition, the date is genuinely useful for office life.

If the date bothers you, the 124060 is cheaper and cleaner. If you want colour, the 126610LV Starbucks adds a green bezel. For travel, compare it in Submariner vs GMT-Master II. If you want a deeper diver, read Submariner vs Sea-Dweller. Box and papers questions are covered in our box and papers guide.

Wrist fit and daily wear

Most owners find the 126610LN easier to wear than the number suggests. The slimmer lugs curve down onto the wrist, and the 21 mm bracelet tapers towards the clasp. As a result, it suits wrists from about 15.5 cm upward. Very slim wrists may still prefer a 36 mm or 39 mm watch.

The date window and Cyclops add a little height at 3 o'clock. In practice you will not notice it under a cuff. However, you will notice the Glidelock, which adjusts without tools when your wrist swells in the heat.

Submariner 126610LN FAQ

What is the retail price of the 126610LN?

In October 2026 Rolex lists it at US$11,350 in the US and RM49,100 in Malaysia. Prices rose four years running, so check rolex.com before you negotiate. Any dealer quoting well under list for a new piece deserves suspicion.

What is the difference between 126610LN and 116610LN?

The 126610LN has a 41 mm case with slimmer lugs, a 21 mm bracelet and the calibre 3235 with 70 hours of reserve. The 116610LN used a 40 mm Maxi case and the 48-hour 3135. The newer dial also adds a coronet between SWISS and MADE.

Is the 126610LN a good investment?

Treat it as a store of value, not an investment. A full set still asks roughly 23 to 37 percent over US list. However, that premium shrank as list prices climbed. Buy it to wear; selling later should cost little.

How much is a Submariner 126610LN in Malaysia?

The Malaysian list price is RM49,100. On the secondary market, an excellent full set converts to roughly RM57,000 to RM64,000 at 4.08 MYR per USD. Watches without papers sit around RM50,000 to RM56,000.

Does the 126610LN suit a small wrist?

Better than its predecessor. The lug-to-lug span is compact for a 41 mm diver, and the slimmer lugs avoid the slab look. On wrists around 15.5 to 16 cm it works, although the bezel still reads as a sports watch.

Can I swim and dive with the 126610LN?

Yes. It is rated to 300 m with a screw-down Triplock crown. Always screw the crown fully home before water, and never operate it underwater. Have the seals pressure-tested at each service.
