Yacht-Master 126621 specifications

The case and movement match the steel Yacht-Master 40. What differs is the metal: the bezel, crown and bracelet centre links are solid 18k Everose, so the watch is warmer in colour and heavier in hand.

History and reference evolution

For most of its life, the Yacht-Master offered a stark choice. You either bought the steel-and-platinum Rolesium model or a watch in solid gold. There was little in between. Then, in 2016, Rolex added the 116621, a two-tone Yacht-Master 40 in steel and Everose gold, and it filled that gap.

Rolex calls the steel-and-gold mix “Rolesor”, a name it has used since 1933. Everose is its own pink gold alloy, cast in its foundry. Consequently, the 116621 combined two Rolex inventions in one watch. The launch dial was a sunray chocolate brown with Everose-framed hour markers, and a black dial joined it later.

What the 126621 changed

In 2019, the Rolex Yacht-Master 126621 replaced the 116621. The update was mechanical rather than cosmetic. Calibre 3235 took over from the 3135, which lifted the power reserve from about 48 hours to 70 hours. It also brought the Chronergy escapement and a rotor on a ball bearing for more efficient winding. Rolex certifies each watch to −2/+2 seconds a day.

Otherwise, the design carried over almost untouched. You still get a bidirectional bezel in solid Everose with raised polished numerals, set against a sand-blasted ground. The Oyster bracelet has steel outer links with Everose centre links, and it closes with an Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension.

Why it matters when buying used

Because the look barely changed, a 116621 and a Yacht-Master 126621 can be hard to tell apart in photos. Always confirm the reference between the lugs at 12 o'clock and on the warranty card. The newer watch deserves a premium for its reserve and remaining warranty. However, the gap should be modest, because neither model has collector scarcity behind it. If the older one has just been serviced by Rolex, it can be the better buy.

This is where the Yacht-Master 126621 becomes interesting. The last US list price we have is US$19,750, although we could not confirm it in official US retailer feeds this month. Meanwhile, excellent full sets trade at US$14,800 – US$16,800. So the first owner typically absorbs around a fifth of the purchase price. In Malaysia, one retailer lists RM85,600, which makes the used discount even larger in ringgit terms.

Factors that decide a 126621's price

On a Yacht-Master 126621, dial colour comes first in listings, but it is not the biggest factor. Chocolate is the dial most people associate with this reference and resells slightly more easily. Black can sit a little lower, yet the spread is narrow.

Wear on the gold centre links matters more. Gold is softer than Oystersteel, so the centre links pick up hairline scratches and, over years, stretch at the pins. A bracelet with visible sag or links that have been heavily polished will cost you at resale. Similarly, a polished bezel loses the sharp edges on its raised numerals. That damage cannot be undone, since refinishing removes gold.

Finally, a complete set with box, card and tags adds 8 to 15% compared with a watch alone. Our box and papers guide explains what to ask for.

Reading the market for this reference

For the Yacht-Master 126621, authorised retailers in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are the starting point, because two-tone models are usually obtainable there without a long wait. That means the boutique gives you a clean benchmark. Grey dealers then price below that, since they compete with an available new watch. Chrono24-style marketplaces show asking prices, so expect to negotiate a few per cent off. For a full view of how we build these bands, see our used Rolex prices guide. In addition, check whether a quoted ringgit price is inclusive of any import duties if the watch comes from abroad.

Prices that should worry you

A genuine Yacht-Master 126621 full set below about US$12,500 (about RM51,000) is unlikely. At that level you are close to the price of a polished, no-papers example. Therefore, a cheap listing with a perfect-looking watch usually hides replacement parts, plated components or a replica. Gold content also gives the watch a scrap floor, so sellers rarely need to dump a genuine one.

Genuine vs replica: how to check a 126621

Everose Rolesor creates a specific weakness for counterfeiters. Solid gold is expensive, so most replicas use rose-gold plating over steel or brass. Plating wears, and its colour rarely matches Everose exactly. Our real vs fake Rolex guide covers the general method; the checks below apply to this reference.

Colour match and gold wear

Look at the bezel, crown and bracelet centre links together in daylight. On a genuine Yacht-Master 126621, all three are the same deep pink, slightly richer than many rose golds. Plated parts often look pinker or more orange, and the shade can differ from part to part. Next, examine the edges of the centre links and the crown guards. If you see grey or yellow showing through on high points, the metal is plated, not solid.

The bezel itself should rotate both ways with firm, even clicks. Its numerals are raised and polished on a matte sand-blasted ground, just like the platinum bezel of the 126622.

Genuine: clasp and bracelet machining

sharp, even edges; deep, clean engraving
  • Crisp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces
  • Clasp blade and logo cleanly milled, not stamped-looking
  • Bracelet links tight, quiet, no rattle; screws not pins on modern pieces

Warning signs

soft edges, wavy or shallow engraving
  • Polishing bleeds over brushed edges
  • Fuzzy logo, uneven font, or stamped-in look
  • Loose links, sharp burrs inside the clasp, cheap spring-loaded feel
The 126621 Oysterlock clasp should close with a crisp snap; the Easylink extension should fold out cleanly and lock flat.

Crown, crystal and date

The winding crown is solid Everose with a Triplock seal and is protected by crown guards. On the crystal, a small laser-etched coronet sits just above 6 o'clock. Meanwhile, the Cyclops should magnify the date about 2.5 times. Calibre 3235 also changes the date almost instantly at midnight. A date that creeps over for an hour or more points to a cheaper movement.

Genuine: laser-etched crown at 6 o'clock

visible only with a loupe at an angle
  • Made of tiny dots, hard to find without a loupe
  • Sits in the crystal just above the 6 o'clock marker
  • Present on most Rolex crystals from the early 2000s onward

Warning signs

obvious to the naked eye
  • Bold and frosted, easy to spot head-on
  • Solid lines instead of a dot matrix
  • Off-centre, or placed on a reference/era that would not have it
On a genuine Yacht-Master 126621, the laser-etched coronet is faint and visible only at an angle under a loupe.

Genuine: date change behaviour

22:0000:0002:00instant jump at midnight2827
  • Date snaps over within a minute or two of midnight
  • Hands set back past midnight do not drag the date backwards
  • Quick-set date clicks crisply in crown position 2

Warning signs

22:0000:0002:00slow creep over hours2827
  • Date starts moving around 22:00 and creeps until after midnight
  • Half-turned date visible in the window for hours
  • Quick-set feels gritty or needs several tries
The calibre 3235 in the 126621 snaps to the next date around midnight rather than rolling slowly.

What only a watchmaker can confirm

A watchmaker can confirm that the movement is a genuine calibre 3235 with a blue Parachrom hairspring and Chronergy escapement. They can also test the gold on a 126621 Yacht-Master. An XRF reading or acid test on a hidden surface will show whether the centre links are solid 18k. Finally, they will check that the dial and hands are original, because aftermarket dials do appear on two-tone Rolex models. Locally, Rolex's own service centre in KL can inspect it, as can a seasoned independent.

Who the 126621 suits, and the alternatives

The Yacht-Master 126621 suits a buyer who wants gold on the wrist without the weight or price of a full-gold watch. The chocolate dial and Everose look dressier than a Submariner, so it works with a batik shirt or a suit as well as on a boat. At 40 mm it fits most wrists between about 16 and 19.5 cm. It is also a sensible pre-owned buy, because the heavy depreciation has already happened.

If you want the same case in a cooler tone, the steel-and-platinum Yacht-Master 40 126622 costs less and trades near list. On the other hand, if you want all gold, the Everose Yacht-Master 126655 on Oysterflex is the next step up. Buyers who like Everose Rolesor but want a second time zone should look at the GMT-Master II 126711CHNR “Root Beer”. For a dive-rated alternative, see our Yacht-Master vs Submariner comparison.

Ownership notes for Everose Rolesor

Two-tone watches age differently from steel ones. The gold centre links wear faster than the steel outer links, so after a decade of daily use the bracelet can loosen. Rolex can replace worn links or the whole bracelet at service, although gold parts are costly. Therefore, a buyer planning to keep the watch for years should budget for that. Also, ask Rolex not to polish the case if you want to keep its edges sharp; service centres will usually respect the request. Finally, Everose does not need special care beyond a rinse in fresh water after the sea or a pool. Our Rolex materials guide explains how Everose and Oystersteel differ in hardness and colour.

126621 FAQ

Does Everose gold fade on the Yacht-Master 126621?

Everose is Rolex's own 18k pink gold alloy, introduced in 2005. A small amount of platinum is added so the colour stays stable, rather than fading as some rose golds do after years of chlorine and sunlight. In practice, a well-kept 126621 keeps its warm tone. Uneven colour between the bezel, crown and centre links is more likely to signal replaced parts or plating than fading.

Why is the 126621 cheaper pre-owned than at retail?

Two-tone Rolex models are widely available at authorised retailers, so there is no queue to skip. The 126621 also costs considerably more than the steel-and-platinum 126622, which narrows its buyer pool. As a result, excellent full sets in October 2026 trade around 20% below the US$19,750 list. That gap is good news for a buyer who plans to keep the watch.

Chocolate or black dial on the 126621?

The chocolate dial is the signature of this reference and the one most buyers search for, so it is easier to resell. The black dial is quieter and pairs well with the black Oysterflex look of the all-gold 126655. Pricing between the two is close, so choose by eye. Check that the dial's Everose-framed markers match the bezel colour in daylight.

How much is the Yacht-Master 126621 in Malaysia?

We have seen one Malaysian authorised retailer list the 126621 at RM85,600 in October 2026, but have not confirmed it at a second source. Pre-owned examples in excellent condition with papers convert to roughly RM60,000 to RM69,000. For a long-term owner, that is a substantial saving, provided the watch is checked by a watchmaker first.

Is the 126621 a good investment?

No, not in the sense of making money. It trades below list, and two-tone sports models have historically moved slowly. That said, much of the initial depreciation has already been absorbed by the first owner, so a used 126621 bought at a fair price should hold its value reasonably well.
