History and reference evolution
Before 2020, the smallest Oyster Perpetual was the 26 mm 176200. That year Rolex retired it and launched the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 28 276200. The two extra millimetres sound minor. On the wrist, however, they move the watch from "petite" to "small but modern".
Why the jump from 26 to 28 mm matters
The larger dial gives the indices more room and makes the hands easier to read at a glance. In addition, it lines the OP up with the 28 mm Lady-Datejust, so the two now share a common wrist presence. For resale, the change split the market. The 176200 remains a budget used option, while the 276200 attracts buyers who want a current reference and a recent card.
Calibre 2232 in the smallest case
Inside sits calibre 2232, shared with the 31 mm model. It offers about 55 hours of reserve, a Syloxi silicon hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. That means the 28 mm watch is certified to the same -2/+2 seconds-a-day Superlative Chronometer standard as larger Rolex models. Many small watches from other brands use simpler movements, so this is a genuine point in its favour.
Dials: from 2020 brights to 2025 lavender
The launch line-up leaned on silver, bright blue, black, candy pink and pink. Then, in 2025, the 28 mm case introduced the matte lavender dial, alongside beige, pistachio and a medium blue in the same matte lacquer. Notably, lavender debuted on this size, which gives the Oyster Perpetual 28 276200 a dial story of its own rather than a hand-me-down.
In 2026 Rolex also added solid-gold OP 28s as separate references, 276205 and 276208. Those are not variants of this watch, and they price in a different bracket entirely.
276200 pre-owned prices compared
Of all the steel OPs, this one sits closest to its retail price. The table shows why the excellent band starts at list.
| Condition | What it means | USD | MYR (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unworn, full set | Stickers or barely worn, box, card dated within ~2 years, all tags | US$7,300 – US$9,000 | RM30,000 – RM37,000 |
| Excellent, box & papers | Light wear, unpolished or lightly polished, warranty card present | US$6,200 – US$7,600 | RM25,000 – RM31,000 |
| Good, no papers | Normal wear, watch only or box only, service history helps | US$5,300 – US$7,000 | RM22,000 – RM29,000 |
| Polished or aftermarket parts | Soft case edges, replaced dial/bezel/bracelet, or non-Rolex parts | US$4,500 – US$6,500 | RM18,000 – RM27,000 |

What moves the price of this reference
The lavender matte dial asks the most at present, followed by candy pink. By comparison, black and silver examples often change hands near the US$6,200 list. Size is the other big factor. A 28 mm case limits demand mostly to women and slim-wrist buyers, so the pool of bidders is smaller than for the 36 or 41.
Condition still counts. The polished smooth bezel is the first part to show swirl marks, and an over-polished bezel looks visibly thinner on a case this size. Therefore an unpolished Oyster Perpetual 28 276200 with its full set justifies the top of the excellent band. A watch-only example belongs in the lower bands.
Where to check prices
Begin with the AD list, which is US$6,200 in the US. In Kuala Lumpur, ask a boutique directly, because a confirmed Malaysian figure was not available across dealers at our October 2026 check. Then compare grey dealer asks against marketplace listings. Filter by dial and by reference, because 176200 and 276200 listings are often mixed together.
Local classifieds such as Mudah carry a handful of OP 28s at any time. Because the market is thin, one aggressive listing can look like a trend. So compare at least five live asks before deciding what "normal" is. Our used Rolex prices guide explains how the condition bands are built.
When a price is too good to be true
Polished or part-replaced examples start around US$4,500. So a supposed full-set 276200 under roughly US$5,000, or about RM20,400, needs a hard look. A lavender matte dial at that price is a stronger warning still, since genuine ones currently ask above list.
Genuine vs replica: how to check a 276200
Small watches are harder to fake well, because errors in printing and spacing show up on a tiny dial. That cuts both ways, though. A loupe becomes essential, since the details are too small to judge by eye.
Measure the case first
A genuine Oyster Perpetual 28 276200 measures 28 mm across the case, excluding the crown. A replica built on a generic movement can drift from that figure. A 26 mm reading points to the older 176200 or to a fake, so measure with callipers before anything else.
Rehaut, crystal and crown
The inner ring should read ROLEX ROLEX, with the case serial engraved at 6 o'clock and matching the warranty card. Next, tilt the crystal to find the laser-etched coronet at 6. The Twinlock crown should screw down smoothly, with crisp threads and an engraved coronet.
Genuine: rehaut engraving alignment
- Each engraved crown and letter lines up with its minute marker
- Engraving is crisp, even in depth, and readable at 12 o'clock
- Serial number engraved on the rehaut at 6 on modern pieces
Warning signs
- Letters drift between markers as they go around the ring
- Shallow, sandy-looking or uneven engraving
- Serial at 6 printed rather than engraved, or wrong format
Genuine: caseback
- Solid Oystersteel or gold, fluted edge for the case wrench
- No engraving on most models (some are factory-engraved, e.g. Sea-Dweller and Deepsea)
- Display backs are factory-fitted only on certain models (e.g. some Daytona, 1908, Land-Dweller)
Warning signs
- Exhibition window on a model Rolex makes with a solid back
- Stickers or decorative engravings sold as 'factory'
- Back that turns too easily or sits proud of the case
Lume and bracelet
Next, charge the lume on the Oyster Perpetual 28 276200 with a torch. Chromalight should glow blue from every index and both hands. Then check the folding Oysterclasp: the coronet should be cleanly engraved, and the solid end links should sit flush against the case.
Genuine: clasp and bracelet machining
- Crisp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces
- Clasp blade and logo cleanly milled, not stamped-looking
- Bracelet links tight, quiet, no rattle; screws not pins on modern pieces
Warning signs
- Polishing bleeds over brushed edges
- Fuzzy logo, uneven font, or stamped-in look
- Loose links, sharp burrs inside the clasp, cheap spring-loaded feel
What only a watchmaker can confirm
With the case back off, a watchmaker can confirm calibre 2232, its Syloxi hairspring and the correct finishing. They can also tell whether the dial is original or an aftermarket refinish, which affects value sharply. For the wider checklist, read our guide to spotting a fake Rolex.
Who the 276200 suits, and the alternatives
The Oyster Perpetual 28 276200 suits wrists of roughly 12.5 to 15 cm. It also suits anyone who wants a Rolex that disappears under a cuff and costs close to list. For a first Rolex on a slim wrist, it is one of the more sensible choices, and our first Rolex buying guide puts it in context.
If you want a little more dial, the OP 31 277200 adds 3 mm and the stronger colour palette. If you want a date and a fluted bezel at the same size, the Lady-Datejust 279174 is the dressier route at a much higher price. Our Datejust vs Oyster Perpetual comparison covers that decision, and the Oyster Perpetual collection shows every size side by side.

Oyster Perpetual 31 277200
31 mm, calibre 2232, lacquer colour dials. Turquoise and Celebration trade far above list.

Lady-Datejust 279174
28 mm Lady-Datejust in steel with a white gold fluted bezel. Prices, history and fake checks.

Oyster Perpetual 34 124200
34 mm steel OP with calibre 2232 and Syloxi spring; modest premium, matte pastels from 2025.
276200 FAQ
What is the price of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 28 276200?
The US list price is US$6,200 as of October 2026. Pre-owned, an example with box and papers usually sits between about US$6,200 and US$7,600. That is the smallest gap to retail in the Oyster Perpetual range. A Malaysian list price has not been confirmed across several dealers, so ask your local boutique for the current figure.
Is the OP 28 a children's or ladies' size?
It is sold as a small adult watch, not a children's model. On wrists of about 12.5 to 15 cm it looks proportionate, and that is where most buyers sit. On a larger wrist it reads like a vintage ladies' piece. Some buyers choose it deliberately for that look.
What is the difference between the 276200 and the 176200?
The 176200 measured 26 mm; the 276200 grew to 28 mm in 2020 and moved to calibre 2232 with a Syloxi silicon hairspring and 55 hours of reserve. Therefore the newer watch is both larger and more modern inside. Check the reference between the lugs, because the older model trades for less.
Are the gold Oyster Perpetual 28 models the same reference?
No. The 2026 solid-gold versions carry their own references, 276205 in Everose and 276208 in yellow gold, with natural-stone markers. They are far more expensive and are not covered by the price bands on this page. A steel watch sold as a gold OP 28 is simply misdescribed.
Which 276200 dial is most sought after?
The lavender matte-lacquer dial, introduced on the 28 mm case in 2025, currently asks the most. Candy pink also draws steady interest. Silver, black and bright blue trade nearest to list. Colour fashions shift, so buy the dial you will enjoy rather than the one that looks strongest on a resale chart.
